Charlotte had her 1st swim lesson today with Mrs. Shelley. She had a great time learning her motorboat kick, to dig or scoop ice-cream with her hands, and blowing bubbles. She even practiced jumping off the side and climbing out of the pool by herself. Since this was her 1st time, we had a private lesson with Mrs. Shelley, but come July we will take a Mom & Me group class. She really loves the water and wants to swim, but we are just waiting for her coordination to kick in so she can kick, paddle, and blow bubbles at the same time. Not an easy feat, but if she would would expend half as much energy physically moving as she does repeatedly chanting "Dig, dig, dig, kick, kick, kick" she might move a little faster :)

"Dig, dig, dig.... Kick, kick, kick"

Birthday Girl

Matt & I have quickly come to realize that when you have a 2 year old, your birthday does not belong to you. No, it is simply a bonus birthday for your child, with cake and opening presents included. Charlotte seemed to really enjoy her 31st birthday this week ;) It was a great morning though, kicked off by me sleeping until almost 9 o'clock!!!! I was awoke to "Happy Birthday" & cake in bed. Matthew & Charlotte woke up early to make me a cake, complete with princess sprinkles. Then Charlotte opened her / my presents, which she graciously shared with me once she realized she had no use for a mortar & pestle, new cutting boards, & a fancy emulsifier thingy. The rest of the day was eventful to be sure, maybe not so wonderful, because the birthday girl (ahem, not me) was pretty grumpy. Think, "It's my party & I'll cry if I want to"........
