Practice Makes Perfect

We had our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt this weekend. It was a gorgeous, warm day perfect for the occasion. This was Charlotte's 1st time hunting and she caught on quickly. Once Matt explained to her that it was like the "Clean Up" song, she was could not be stopped. By the end of the day, she would see an egg & start running towards it saying "Oh, see egg!" or "Wow!".  It was quite entertaining. So watch out Hughes cousins, it is on this weekend!!

Definitely NOT Ready!

So I bought Charlotte an Elmo training potty......

We have been having an awful lot of conversations about pee pee and poo poo, so I thought "What can it hurt? We'll see what happens!" She was very excited to have Elmo give her a high 5 and talked about it the whole way home. I confess I was excited too & had almost convinced myself that she would be "that" kid that sits on the potty once and never goes back to diapers. HA!!! I was brought crashing back to reality after we set it in the bathroom and I asked Charlotte to show Daddy how she sits on the potty. Unless she's got some plumbing I haven't noticed yet, we are definitely NOT ready for potty training! A girl can dream though, right?

Cape Girardeau

We went to Cape Girardeau, MO two weekends ago to visit Matt's family. We made the trip to celebrate 2 very important events - cousin Connor's 1st birthday and the birth of his new baby sister, Kaia. It was a wonderful weekend spent with all of the Freeman family: Big Daddy & Jodi, Hokie & Faye Faye, Carson, Dex, Ross, Peyton, the Pooles,  & Whitney. We stayed in Big Daddy & Jodi's beautiful, big new house, complete with baby ducks for the pond! We even got to see Carsie play basketball. We can't wait to go back for another visit this summer!

Constant Companion

I would like to introduce Dorothy Freeman, Charlotte's new best friend. Dorothy came to live with us this Christmas, a gift from Hokie & Faye Faye. Dorothy sat unnoticed in the toy basket for several weeks until Charlotte rediscovered her & declared her our newest family member. Dorothy does everything with us - she shares snacks, goes to the playground, sits in the highchair, gets her diaper changed, rides in the car to school, and even tried to get in the bathtub once. Before bedtime, Charlotte has to put Dorothy to bed. We have to love on Dorothy when instructed to, but be careful not to love too much because then Charlotte gets jealous. Charlotte calls her by name, but you have to listen carefully because her name sounds quite similar to "daddy" ("da-o-de") - it can cause some confusion at times. I took some pictures while Charlotte was playing on the bay over Spring Break. I played around with iPhoto a bit & here is my 1st attempt at being a "photographer". Enjoy!

Spring Break!

Charlotte & I went to Fairhope for Spring Break and we had a blast. We were busy every minute of every day & Charlotte kept up with us with no complaint. Sunday we played outside in the sunshine after church, then Becca & the kids came to join us for dinner. I took Charlotte down to the bay and she loved playing in the sand. Monday we went over to see Rachael's beautiful new house. LillieBell joined us for a picnic lunch and we played with Claire in their giant backyard. Monday night we got to see Uncle B play in his baseball game - the Admirals dominated UMS 11 to 1!! Tuesday we went shopping with Nonnie & got all kinds of cute new clothes. That night we went back over to Rachael & Jeremy's house for a delicious dinner & my good friend Jay joined us. Before we left Wednesday we managed to fit in a trip to the Fairhope playground & lunch with Becca & the kids. Fun, Fun, Fun!!

I really enjoyed this trip; it was amazing to see how much Charlotte has grown and changed. She played outside on the jungle gym all the time & is able to climb, slide, and swing all by herself. She came home with scraped knees just like a big kid! She had so much fun playing with all her cousins, and was calling them all by name by the time we left. She showed everyone how much of a talker she really is, chatting with Nonnie & Papa all week. She also had many conversations with Harley dog ("HaHee")! We can't wait to go back for Easter, and this time Dad can come!!!

Snow!!

We got some surprise snow this weekend and woke up to a beautiful white Sunday. We bundled Charlotte up & took her outside to play in her 1st snow. Please note her grocery bag snow boots :)
