(kind of) New Toy

Our friends the Merrills gave Charlotte a cool sprinkler for her 1st bday last August, and of course, we just got around to using this summer. Charlotte thinks the dog is very cool as long as it isn't spraying water. Matt & I ran through the sprinkler a few times while she stayed safely on the porch. The dog now is a dry toy in the den!

Backyard Fun

I planned on playing in the sprinkler with Charlotte this afternoon, but we ended up playing in the mud puddles instead!

What the Freemans Did This Weekend...

We took a trip to the LeBonheur Urgent Care! Yours truly was changing Charlotte's pj's and went to pick her up by her arms when she was done and I felt a pop followed by lots of crying. All the family medical professionals rushed over (Momma Donna, Matt-O, Aunt Emily, and Cristin) and decided we should get it looked at. Charlotte was very good at the clinic and took to her nurse Earline. She did not care for the Xrays but we all survived. The Doctor said it was Nursemaids Elbow, an injury caused when the radius slips out of the ligament holding it into the elbow. Apparently it is a condition common to children under 4 (with moms like me) and more likely to happen again. They sent her home with a tiny little sling to help keep it immobilized. 

She slept with us that night and wore the sling the next day. By the end of Sunday, Matt & I had watched her use her left arm more & more without any pain. We took the sling off for a trial run & she refuses to put it back on. By Monday night she was back to her old self. We go back to the doctor tomorrow to make sure we are all clear.

I have attached a picture of Hairy Squishy wearing the sling because Charlotte refused to even wear it to pose for a picture (can't really blame her). She was cute in it, but I wasn't really in picture taking mode after all the hoopla Saturday night. She said that he has the bobo now so she must be all better.

Two Steps Forward...(and one step back)

So mark your calendars folks! Today, May 17th, 2009, Charlotte peed on the potty!!! It was very exciting (and in all likelihood a complete accident, but you gotta celebrate when you can right?)! 

I don't know if I have mentioned it before, but this kid hates having her diaper changed. It is often a long drawn out ordeal with lots of negotiating, whining, and crying from both parties involved. So, per our usual routine, we were wrestling / changing a diaper when Charlotte escaped from my clutches & took off running through the house. The Elmo potty happened to be sitting in the hallway so I jokingly said that she must want to go on the potty. And that is exactly what she did!!

But to put this all in perspective, after we did the celebratory potty dance she walked into the den and peed on the rug. Hmmmm.... You gotta start somewhere though!

A bonus to the day's special event was that dear Aunt "Men" was here to witness it all. She firmly believes that her presence influenced the "potty miracle" (she is probably right). I will be sure to keep you all updated on the situation!

Opa!!

We went to GreekFest Friday night & Charlotte wouldn't leave the dance floor. Baby girl played so hard she was asleep within 2 minutes of getting back in her stroller for the ride home! I would say that her KinderMusik classes are really rubbing off on her. She loves, loves, loves music! Every night she points to the stereo & asks for music so we usually have a night time jam before bed (complete with instruments). 

Peek a boo!

I got some great pictures of Charlotte and Matthew playing the other day. She has begun putting her blanket over her head & running around the house screaming; the girl really cracks herself up! I really love watching her play with her Daddy.

Catch Up

I have not posted in a while due to a tempermental computer, but I think all is well now so I am going to catch you up on what we have been up to for the last month. Here goes! We went down to Fairhope to celebrate Easter as well as throw a surprise 60th birthday party for Nonnie. She was surprised!! It was a little crazy pulling it off, but we succeeded, and she swears she had no idea. Many thanks to my sisters & dad who did most of the planning. My job was making up the lies to throw Nonnie off the trail.... hmmm... don't know if that is a skill I should be too proud of :) I particularly love the pictures of all the grandkids watching a movie; it reminds me of pictures my parents have of us as kids with all our cousins and family friends.
